EXIT
One of my fellow ordinands reads the lesson at our eucharist during the ordinand retreat at Bishops Ranch last week. We moved the lecturn to the rear of the chapel so we could have more movement in our liturgy - from the table of the word to the table of the eucharist. I thought this would make a good picture: the lecturn and the EXIT sign above the reading. The proclamation of the Word draws us out of ourselves - commands us out of ourselves. It propels us out into the world and draws us back in for more.
I think it is in the doorway that we find the symbol of our purpose as Church: to live betwiixt and between; in the liminal space between the mystical and physical - where God meets world - as we become members of the Body of Christ.
